Free Daytime Inter-Venue Social Tennis & PickleBall friendlies

1. Operative dates

Winter – October to March

Summer – April to September

2. Playing Times

Play starts at the times you choose for each match. Your squad can choose between:

Daytime – Monday to Friday, 10AM and 1PM.

Evening / Weekend - Monday to Friday, 5PM. Saturday/Sunday, 11AM and 3PM.

Administrators can adjust start times if necessary.

3. Playing standard

There are three divisions: Performance, Relaxed and, where there is demand, Beginner.

4. Organisation

Squad formation, match organisation, and player selection is entirely done via a web based database, accessed via any browser, with each team having a code incorporated in to their team's web url link. There is no app to install. There are no fees to pay. The system is designed to bring the administrator's workload down to a minimum.

A team administrator password is supplied. It will take most team administrators more time to read this document than to set-up their team. Players do not register (no personal details about them whatsoever are stored, other than their name). Players simply click their team link, add their name, (which will then appear on the team web page as “Linda A”), then record their general availability. The administrator sets the team's division, and records their court availability.

5. Match creation

Once the team has been created, the administrator creates “Home” matches, with the system combining court and player availability to work out when the best periods for playing matches are. The team administrator can agree to be the opponent for “Away” matches posted by other venues. Players click the team link, then click their name to see all the matches they have been selected for. A “thumbs up” system is integrated in to the website so administrators can easily see that players of both home and away teams have acknowledged matches, and are ready to play.

6. Format

Games are intended to be social, friendlies, with a variable match length which should suit the participants of the two teams. They are intended to be friendly social games, and playing style may need to be modified to accommodate the opponents' standard.

6.1 Team format

Two mixed doubles pairs by default. Team administrators can choose to create other doubles or singles formats for a match.

6.2 Participants

Participants can be any of your venue members, including existing team players, but there is an emphasis on providing access to social competitive tennis for all those who are unable to play in the standard evening leagues.

6.3 Matches

Match Day

Home teams to provide suitable balls, and make some provision for social post-match refreshments.

Match format

It is acceptable for captains to agree other formats in advance. This format is to be adopted unless agreement is reached on another format:

Game format - No deuce - each game is first to 4 points (Sudden death deuce)

Set format - No tie breaks - a set is halved at 6-6

For Mixed doubles, the match should commence with a Ladies, and a Mens set.

The “A” pair, plays “A” pair. “B” pair plays “B” pair for one set each.

Add additional “Match” sets if both teams agree before the start of the match.

Teams should consider either playing for two sets or playing all opposing pairs for one set each as a default.

Unless stated otherwise above - normal rules of tennis will apply.
